What is Viral Gastroenteritis?

Gastroenteritis refers to an infection of the gut and can be caused by food contaminated with viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Symptoms range in severity and can start within hours of eating contaminated food. The term “stomach flu” is commonly used for the infection, but this is incorrect as the infection affects the intestines.

Why would you repeatedly go to a place thats made you sick before?

B
Flight from London to Dubai EK016 on 21.01.24. and then Dubai to Bali EK368 on 22. 01.24. with my young daughter.

I tried my daughter’s kids meal as she asked me if it tasted right. I ran to the plane toilets twice with severe nausea, sweating and … See More
had terrible diarrhoea. My head was spinning in the toilet and I was holding onto the sink to steady myself as I thought I was going to pass out. I came back and my daughter then woke up saying she felt as if she was going to be sick and felt faint. This lasted the flight and she had to be taken to other seats to lie out. She felt cold and was shaking. She was crying.

Staff tried to blame it on me eating something ‘abroad’ and my daughter not eating (when she’d been asleep as it was UK nighttime.) Told it must be her ‘blood sugar.’ Another staff member told me we were simply responding to turbulence… I’ve been flying to Bali for 25 years and have experienced turbulence before without being ill.

My daughter and I have completely different diets - I’m a Vegan and she’s a meat eater and the only thing we both ate/ tried was her Emirates kids meal.

I then spent 5 days in Bali having diarrhoea after any attempt at even a snack, however small, and feeling faint and dizzy.

Doctor put me on a drip with 5 different medications and said it was Gastroenteritis. On 5 medications ever since.

I sent a complaint to Emirates 8 days ago with the medical report from the doctor. I have only received acknowledgements from Emirates, no help from them at all.

Scared of returning home with this airline as there’s clearly an issue. My daughter doesn’t want to go near them as she’s scared it will happen again.

After that, I have had a response from Emirates denying responsibility. When I attempted to respond and challenge it was blocked. Will be escalating.

I have a full report from the doctor who treated me and gave me the drip. He diagnosed Gastroenteritis. I sent this report to Emirates with my complaint and they completely ignored it.  | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Sweating, Gas, Shaking, Dizziness

Sounds like someone from Emirates working the boards. Sad behaviour. I’m glad you found a child having food poisoning funny (LMAO.) Let alone an adult being on a drip as a result of it. We don’t eat the same food (read the report.) The only time we did - on Emirates - we both had food poisoning.

A gourmet Christmas dinner served to employees of Airbus Atlantic, the French aerospace group, has resulted in an outbreak of gastroenteritis. Reports suggest that approximately 700 workers fell ill following the event, held at the company site in the Loire-Atlantique region of western France. The festive feast, … See More
hosted by the company's on-site restaurant, featured a variety of delicacies like foie gras, lobster, and ice-cream logs among others. Most of the affected employees reportedly faced "clinical signs of vomiting and/or diarrhoea" within 24 to 48 hours following the culminating event on December 14. The precise cause of this mass bout of food poisoning remains undetermined at this point, with possibilities including a food-related bacterium or a highly contagious gastrointestinal virus.

Health officials, sensing the severity of the situation, swiftly initiated an investigation. They are now awaiting test results from samples of every item served at the meal. Furthermore, a formal questionnaire has been disseminated to all attendees to gather more insights.

It's common for users to be concerned when they see GPU fans not spinning, but this is often a good thing. Most modern graphics cards employ semi-passive cooling to ensure a quieter experience during non-intensive tasks. When the card needs cooling, the fans will start spinning, and you'll hear them.

The Victoria's Department of Health and the Port Phillip Council are investigating a gastroenteritis outbreak linked to a wedding reception at The Park Melbourne, Albert Park, which took place on September 16. More than half of the 300 attendees at a wedding reception were affected by this outbreak. The source of the outbreak is still under investigation, but the Department of Health said the incident was not linked to the ongoing cluster of listeria cases in the state.

Several severely impacted guests were transported to Sunshine and Royal Melbourne hospitals for urgent medical attention. 2 individuals were healthy enough for hospital discharge by Tuesday. As investigations continue, concerned guests are urged to monitor their health.

A "precautionary deep clean" of the venue has been initiated, with the approval of Port Phillip Council.
