“I ordered a chimichanga from Uber eats on Saturday, November 23rd. The meal arrived within 20 mins of ordering. I ate the food and towards the end of my meal I bit into something hard and pulled it out of my mouth and noticed that it was a fingernail. Upset, I threw the food away and went about my e... vening. About two hours later, I started feeling ill. My stomach hurt. I ended up throwing up and had diarrhea nonstop for 30 hours straight. The following day I felt Very lethargic, but went to an emergency clinic. They diagnosed me with food poisoning and said that the best thing I could do was take Zofran (RX anti nausea medicine) and wait for it to pass, but to drink a lot of fluids. The issue with drinking the fluids was that every time I’d drink water, my body would reject it. By about Monday evening I started feeling normal. Then mistakenly, I started eating normal foods again and the illness came back. I went into St David’s Er in Pflugerville on Thanksgiving evening. They ran some blood tests and did a CT scan on my stomach and told me that I have a parasite in my colon from eating something bad. I explained to them that this was the second time I had been seen. The first time was at a small emergency medical center. They told me that the bacteria can take up to two weeks to completely leave my system so it’s best to stick to liquid such as soup and water until the end of the two week period. ”

“My husband and I went to Ocean Blue & Sand Resort in January of 2017. The first day the maid opened the outside door to our room without even knocking she just came in and hit me in my arm which is handicapped. We had the wrong room and they told us that it was the room we reserved and it wasn't t... hey told us they could not change it until Tuesday, and it was Sunday. Went to dinner that night got on the tram to go and he stopped at the steak house and I stepped off with one foot and had one foot still on and he took off with me hanging off the side of the tram if had not been for my husband and everyone holloring he would have run over me. I went to the office to report these and the head woman there and told me that they were not responsible for anything that happened to anyone staying on their Resort, she wanted to know it I got his name and I told her that he took off.
I asked her even if was your employee who caused it and she told no, they were not responsible. She was very rude and nasty .On Tuesday, they moved us to another room, went in put suitcases on other side of room and my husband layed his phone on the night stand and called me over to look at it and it was covered with bugs. I called the front desk to inform them and they told me they knew it. I told them why would you put someone in a room that is infested with bugs and they said the whole building was infested and that we would have to leave for up to 1 hour so they could spray, and then we could come back. The day before we left I started feeling sick. When I got home it was really bad. Went to the hospital 3 times for dehydration. I had parasite, and E-coli. I was sick for 7 months. It was bad. I found out that you can get the parasite from the pool, the water at the beach, the shower, and the water which you think is ok to drink which is filtered is, BUT the ice isn't filtered. I also drank the water from the restaurant and had a frozen drink by the pool. Also I tried to check to see if it was the pesticide they were using making me sick and they would not tell me what it was. I contacted the Resort to let them know how sick I had gotten and contacted AM Resorts n Barcelona, Spain numerous times which is owned by H10 and they would tell me that someone would contact me and noone did. I just want to let them know what was going on there before more winded up sick or worse. It's ashame that people have to die to get someone to listen about these places. I hope that someone will finally step in and get this solved for everyone, especially the ones who have died. This is so sad that it had to come to this. I pray for the families who have lost loved ones. Please someone Help. ”

“We started to feel ill on day two. By day five we were so sick we could not leave our room. Hotel was not helpful at all. Numerous guests stated they were ill almost their entire stay as well. Flew home and went straight to ER. Was admitted for five days. Parasite from contaminated food or water... . Only drank bottled water and did not eat the food baking in the hot sun on the beach with no ice. Was sick for over three weeks. Never felt so ill in my life. We have traveled around the world and have never had such a bad experience. ”

“Our trip was July, 2018. I was so incredibly ill, I spent the last 2 1/2 days of our trip in the room. I couldn't even eat bread or drink a sip of water. Got home, and went straight to the ER from the airport. They said it was food poisoning, and gave me some meds and sent me home. A few days later,... I was having very intense abdominal attacks. Went back to the hospital. The admitted me and did abdominal surgery to cut the parasite out of my small intestine. Then they noticed a lot of fluid in my chest cavity. Turned out, that my lungs were leaking and I was building up fluid in my chest cavity. Then I read how people were dying from respiratory failure from this. All totaled, I underwent a total of 5 surgeries and spent 52 days in the hospital.2 abdominal surgeries, and 3 surgeries on my lungs. ”

“After arriving in resort and feeling unwell after 3 days I sort advice from the hotel doctor who treated me for a stomach bug using IV drip & antibiotics and was told it would be better in 24 hours. Guess what...... still I’ll 48 hours later so the doctor sent me to the hospital and I was diagnosed... with a parasite infection and later an abscess caused by the diarrhoea which required 5 days in hospital & surgery! Moral of the story don’t eat the salad as it maybe washed in local water which is where we were told you can catch the parasite. ”

“We stayed at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana from April 15-April 22, 2019 for a wedding. The whole party was sick with various symptoms. The symptoms were headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps. One person even got a parasite. My brother got so severely ill the last night we were there with severe... stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, fever. He almost passed out numerous times. For a moment there he thought he was not going to make it. On the plane ride home, he almost passed out twice from his symptoms. After that I was severely sick with the same exact thing and it lasted for days. We at first chalked it up to norovirus or food poisoning, but now we are not sure because the symptoms are like numerous other visitors. We feel very lucky to have made it out of there. The computer system went out for days and management did nothing to help with anything. We are glad to be home and safe. ”

“I had been craving sushi, so my father got me a salmon sashimi/roll carry out from Sushi Ichiban - not my regular place, but he thought he would give them a try. I felt crampy that night, and the following day had....an interesting trip to the bathroom. To make a long story short, I had to take off... work to see the doctor, and ended up with a script to get rid of the worms that I apparently picked up from the salmon. Gross! ”

“Company name: Ocean Beauty Seafoods LLC
Brand name: Publix
Product recalled: Parmesan-Crusted Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets
Reason of the recall: Undeclared Soy
FDA Recall date: February 08, 2021
Recall details: Ocean Beauty Seafood LLC of Seattle, WA is recalling 8450 packages of Publix brand Pa... rmesan-Crusted Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets, net wt.12oz, frozen, UPC 41415 30245 7, because it may contain undeclared soy due to mis-packaging. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The affected Parmesan-Crusted Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets retail box bears the code date “Best Before/Use By date 021122”, and the affected Teriyaki sauced product is observed through a clear inner vacuum package inside the retail box. Images of the affected and non-affected product are found below. The affected product was distributed directly to Publix Super Markets Inc distribution warehouses located in Florida and Georgia between 9/18/20 and 11/4/20. Publix further distributed product to their various retail stores in the southeast.
The problem was discovered when a consumer reported that the Teriyaki sauced salmon was found inside the retail box labeled as Parmesan-crusted salmon. Further investigation by the co-packer UniSea Cold Storage of Redmond, WA revealed that the that the loading box machine operator must have inadvertently grabbed the Parmesan-crusted salmon retail box instead of the correct boxes. We estimate only 300 units of 8450 Teriyaki sauced salmon packages were mis-packaged as Parmesan-Crusted Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets.
