From protozoa to helminths and tapeworms, many parasites can be transmitted via food. Foods regularly implicated in the transmission of these worms include Poorly cooked mollusks, fish and crabs, Feces-contaminated vegetables, Poorly cooked meat, or Aquatic plants like watercress.

water. Step-father had unsweetened ice tea. Immediately after leaving we all had a stomach ache. Later diarrhea for all of us. Then I had 2 1/2 days of vomiting, diarrhea, and became weak with dizziness and paresthesia across face, limbs, chest, and back. Ended up having to take an ambulance to UAB. The ER was too full and I wouldn't have been seen for 12 hours. Talked to an after hours nurse from my primary care physician's office who told me to either call an ambulance or go straight to an ER. I ended up at Brookwood where I was treated for extreme dehydration. My labs showed elevated white blood count, my blood and urine were High in proteins from dehydration. Then I ended up with a parasite infection. Flukes. Which you can get from water chestnuts. I have never felt so sick in my entire life
and that is saying something. Be careful out there!

I believe it was water chestnuts in the lettuce wraps appetizer. My step-dad, daughter (11), and myself all had stomach problems after. Diarrhea. I myself had all 4 symptoms from the questionnaire plus I ended up with flukes. a fingernail. Upset, I threw the food away and went about my evening. About two hours later, I started feeling ill. My stomach hurt. I ended up throwing up and had diarrhea nonstop for 30 hours straight. The following day I felt Very lethargic, but went to an emergency clinic. They diagnosed me with food poisoning and said that the best thing I could do was take Zofran (RX anti nausea medicine) and wait for it to pass, but to drink a lot of fluids. The issue with drinking the fluids was that every time I’d drink water, my body would reject it. By about Monday evening I started feeling normal. Then mistakenly, I started eating normal foods again and the illness came back. I went into St David’s Er in Pflugerville on Thanksgiving evening. They ran some blood tests and did a CT scan on my stomach and told me that I have a parasite in my colon from eating something bad. I explained to them that this was the second time I had been seen. The first time was at a small emergency medical center. They told me that the bacteria can take up to two weeks to completely leave my system so it’s best to stick to liquid such as soup and water until the end of the two week period.  | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain

room and they told us that it was the room we reserved and it wasn't they told us they could not change it until Tuesday, and it was Sunday. Went to dinner that night got on the tram to go and he stopped at the steak house and I stepped off with one foot and had one foot still on and he took off with me hanging off the side of the tram if had not been for my husband and everyone holloring he would have run over me. I went to the office to report these and the head woman there and told me that they were not responsible for anything that happened to anyone staying on their Resort, she wanted to know it I got his name and I told her that he took off.
I asked her even if was your employee who caused it and she told no, they were not responsible. She was very rude and nasty .On Tuesday, they moved us to another room, went in put suitcases on other side of room and my husband layed his phone on the night stand and called me over to look at it and it was covered with bugs. I called the front desk to inform them and they told me they knew it. I told them why would you put someone in a room that is infested with bugs and they said the whole building was infested and that we would have to leave for up to 1 hour so they could spray, and then we could come back. The day before we left I started feeling sick. When I got home it was really bad. Went to the hospital 3 times for dehydration. I had parasite, and E-coli. I was sick for 7 months. It was bad. I found out that you can get the parasite from the pool, the water at the beach, the shower, and the water which you think is ok to drink which is filtered is, BUT the ice isn't filtered. I also drank the water from the restaurant and had a frozen drink by the pool. Also I tried to check to see if it was the pesticide they were using making me sick and they would not tell me what it was. I contacted the Resort to let them know how sick I had gotten and contacted AM Resorts n Barcelona, Spain numerous times which is owned by H10 and they would tell me that someone would contact me and noone did. I just want to let them know what was going on there before more winded up sick or worse. It's ashame that people have to die to get someone to listen about these places. I hope that someone will finally step in and get this solved for everyone, especially the ones who have died. This is so sad that it had to come to this. my one year old grandson including with high fever diarrhea
People there they don’t care
Very sketchy people..
I couldn’t get out of bed we were so weak..this never happened to me in 25 yrs..never...
Food was handled so bad I have never seen anything like this all the food outside no refrigeration properly working it was terrible ...
4 days we ended up eating crackers and bananas
Luckily grace of GOD we all survived
We were talking to alot of people in the hotel..they were alot of sick people like us...We couldn’t leave because they don’t allow sick people on the plane
When we returned I went to doctor
He said it was s parasite I got
It lasted about 3 weeks of diarrhea
I saddened to write this but people need to know how bad it is
