Product recalled: Fully Cooked Great Northern Beans
Reason of the recall: Potential for under processing
FDA Recall date: May 25, 2021
Recall details: Randall Foods, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio is recalling certain jarred beans under the “Hurst’s” Brand because of manufacturing deviations that may pose a potential health risk. The recall includes the following products:

- Brand: Hurst
- Description: Glass Jar Fully Cooked Great Northern Beans 48OZ
- UPC: 0 256012 0
- Batch/Lot Numbers: TGN19253
- “Best By” Date: 9/9/2022

The product was co-packed and sold in 48oz glass jars with yellow labels with “Hurst's Brand” at the label top. Four hundred and thirty-seven (437) cases of affected product were shipped between November 7, 2019 and September 28, 2020 for distribution in the following states: Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

No other Hurst’s Brand products are included in this recall.

The manufacturing deviations included a nonfunctioning temperature indicating device raising the possibility that the product was not effectively processed. Processing at temperatures below a required temperature could create a condition that could lead to premature spoilage or food-borne illness; however, there have been no illnesses reported. The company is issuing this voluntary recall as a precaution.

Consumers who have purchased jars of Hurst’s brand beans, with the above Batch/Lot number or “Best By” date should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

It made me suffer when I should be making memories & having a fun filled day with my loved ones, unfortunately I had to end up cutting my vacation short bc I didn’t feel good for days. There is actually a Norovirus going around that is flying across the US. It hits very suddenly. My husband and I ate dinner and were both absolutely fine. He got up and started helping to clean up and BOOM, out of nowhere, it hit him. Safe with my 2 friends. He went to work and was fine. All of the sudden at 10:30 it hit him like a brick and she was fine at her work and about 2 or 3 hours after it hit him like a brick it hit her. It hits like a tornado. Read your CDC reports online.

Same thing happened to me yesterday with the exact same product. Family member also had stomach issues after eating one. Expiration date Dec 03 2024.
