AMC Bay Plaza Cinema 13, Bartow Avenue, The Bronx, NY, USA

My husband and I decided to catch a matinee movies after doing some early morning Christmas shopping. I decided to have a hot dog before noon (that was my first mistake) and I was alright until about 5:00pm. It started with a huge wave of nausea and then diarrhea for 4 hours. I didn't feel slightly better until 9:00pm! I was dizzy, sweating and weak afterwards. NEVER AGAIN!

“It's been a couple years ago but would still likely be true today. I use to go to the movie theater every other week. One of my favorite things was eating a small bag of popcorn with butter flavor, soda, and a hot dog.
Right after the movie would end, I would start to have an upset stomach. By t... he time I got home, I had diarrhea off and on for about a day and a half.
So the next trip I eliminated the butter flavor. Smae result, just not as severe. I've always been able to eat popcorn at the movies until just a few years ago. I've talked to others who have told me they too could eat the popcorn - until a few years ago,
I believe the main culprit is when the Theater changed from popping their corn with genuine canola oil to using a (probably less expensive) dehydrated (?) type coconut oil. And the butter flavored oil is just another variation of this. And it's not just AMC. I tried the popcorn with no butter flavor at anothe local movie chain, same result.
Too bad someone there is not aware of this. . ”

“I had the Heinz57 burger with red skinned mashed potatoes w/ gravy. Within one hour after eating it I started to get an upset stomach and heartburn. I figured I would have a little ice cream, in hopes of it calming down the heartburn. After three spoonfuls I felt the urge to vomit. I ran in the bath... room and got sick several times. As I stood up I felt so dizzy to the point I had to sit down on the side of the bathtub. Once I felt some relief I went to lay down. I couldn’t stay asleep as I was awoken by cramping every so often. A few hours later is when the diarrhea began. Here we r ten hours later and I have yet to get any sleep as these symptoms keep reoccurring. I apologize for being so graphic I am hoping to save someone else from the pain and discomfort that I am currently going through! ”

“The FSIS announced the recall of 6,804 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) ham products by Olymel S.E.C./L.P., a Quebec, Canada establishment because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumer... s who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. The ham items were packaged on November 5, 2020. The following products are subject to recall
- 12-lb. plastic film vacuum package of “Celebrity EXTRA LEAN IMPORTED HAM 98% FAT FREE” with product codes “20309 11 – 91”, “20309 21 – 91”, “20309 31 – 91” or “20309 51 – 91” printed on the side of the packaging
The products subject to recall bear Canadian establishment number 180 inside the Canadian inspection mark located below the ingredient list. These items were shipped to distributors in California for further distribution for institutional use.
The problem was discovered when FSIS collected a routine product import sample that confirmed positive for the presence of Salmonella Enteritidis. The product subject to recall was determined by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to be associated with the FSIS positive sample result.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls
Media and consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact Richard Vigneault, Media Relations for Olymel S.E.C./L.P., at (514) 497-1385 or email@example.com.
