Carl's Jr., Hamner Avenue, Norco, CA, USA

On November 20, 2018 I ate the chicken tenders and cross cut fries at 4 pm. The chicken tenders seemed ok but the French fries were extremely greasy and tasted like they were cooked in old grease because the flavor was off. I should not have eaten the food but I was so very hungry. Immediately after I ate, my stomach filled with gas and I kept burping up the taste of the old fries and passing gas. At 10 pm I became nauseated and my stomach started cramping and churning then the headache started. I went to the bathroom to relieve myself and there was nothing but dark orange grease in the toilet. The forceful vomiting and diarrhea started at 2:00 am and lasted until 4:30 am. Even though I was still nauseous I tried to go to work at 6: 00 am but I had 2 more episodes of vomiting and diarrhea shortly after arriving so I had to go back home. When I got home I vomited again just a little but the diarrhea came back with a vengeance. I haven’t had another episode since 10:00 am but I’m still nauseous and I have a bad headache. I can’t keep anything down except for sips of clear liquids which sucks because this is thanksgiving eve. I’ll never eat Carl’s Jr. Again

“Closure Date: 12-16-2020
Rodent infestation. The inspector found rodent urine and droppings “too numerous to count” throughout the facility, including on food-prep tables, the front counter, a sheet tray, shelving and the floor. The inspector noted that she couldn’t verify whether there was rodent... activity at the cooks line and in another food-prep area because they were too dirty with grease and debris. Among other violations, numerous containers of food were stored without lids, and the dirty conditions were described as “a chronically repeated violation.” Additionally, the restaurant was still offering outdoor dining in violation of COVID-19 health orders.

“The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 6,806 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) dip and salads products by Food Evolution because they contain meat that was produced without the benefit of federal inspection. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these pro... ducts.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The RTE dip and salad items containing meat were produced on various dates from Nov. 9, 2020, through Jan. 29, 2021 and have “USE BY” dates through Feb. 6, 2021. The recalled products bear establishment number “EST. 34309” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Illinois. The following product is subject to recall:
- Taco Dip With Refried Beans, Chili, Sour Cream, Cheddar, Onions, Black Olives, Jalapenos, & Red Pepper thoughtfully handmade —fresh to you — Fresh, Fast, Gourmet (31-oz).
- Taco Dip With Refried Beans, Chili, Sour Cream, Cheddar, Onions, Black Olives, Jalapenos, & Red Pepper thoughtfully handmade —fresh to you — Fresh, Fast, Gourmet. (18-oz).
- Tri-Colored Italian Style Rotini Pasta Salad with Salami thoughtfully handmade — fresh to you — Fresh, Fast, Gourmet. (7-oz).
- German Style Potato Salad with Bacon thoughtfully handmade — fresh to you — Fresh, Fast, Gourmet. (8-oz).
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS verification tasks. FSIS personnel discovered that the establishment produced amenable product at an off-site facility without the benefit of federal inspection, then repackaged and labeled the products with the USDA mark of inspection at the federal establishment.
This is a Class I recall meaning it is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

“The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating an ongoing multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes linked to Hispanic-style fresh and soft cheeses.
As part of this outbreak investigation, the Connecticut Department of Public Health collected product samples of El Abu... elito-brand Hispanic-style fresh and soft cheeses from a store where a sick person bought cheeses. Sample analysis showed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in samples of El Abuelito Queso Fresco sold in 10 oz packages, marked as Lot A027 with an expiration date of 02/26/2021. Samples are currently undergoing Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) analysis to determine if the Listeria monocytogenes found in these samples is a match to the outbreak strain. At this time, there is not enough evidence to determine if this outbreak is linked to El Abuelito Queso Fresco.
FDA advises consumers, restaurants, and retailers not to eat, sell, or serve El Abuelito Queso Fresco cheese until more information is known. FDA and state partners are working with the firm to recall the affected lot and to determine if additional products should be recalled. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
As of February 17, 2021, there are reports of seven people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes in Connecticut, Maryland, New York, and Virginia. Six of the seven ill people are Hispanic. Of the four people interviewed, three reported eating at least one type of Hispanic-style fresh and soft cheeses, and all three reported eating queso fresco.
