We took a day pass to the resort which included an open buffet and 2 drinks. I started eating around 1:30 pm and tried their pumpkin soup, sushi, hummus, tuna and potato salad, and a selection of their grilled meats (chicken satay, slider, fish). Had this with 2 glasses of white wine. Went and took a nap at the pool for 2 hours. Woke up having chills and feeling nautious. Ended up throwing up in the toilet with diarrhea and fever at 38 per hotel nurse.Landed later in the ER with IV and feeling completely destroyed. Fever went away after 8 hours and was discharged. Diagnosed with gastrointitis (toxins in food)
I’m convinced that the problem is lack of awareness among many locals of proper food handling. I’ve seen it even in local homes and how the food is handled. There is no attention to hygiene standards whatsoever. This is hard to change because it’s behavior just like the importance of wearing seatbelts. It takes many years from authorities to raise that awareness. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting, Gas, Chills
