Gastroenteritis outbreak in the Hunter New England region

New South Wales, Australia

An outbreak of gastroenteritis, commonly known as 'gastro', has spread in New South Wales, impacting 24 childcare centres in the Hunter New England region with many children falling ill. Health officials have confirmed that seven new childcare centres have been hit with the virus in the past week. The affected age group ranges throughout early childhood, though all are being advised to monitor their health closely.

In response to the outbreak, health officials are stressing the importance of proper hygiene, particularly regular hand washing with soap and water, as this could prevent further spreading of the virus. The public is also being cautioned to stay home if feeling unwell and to ensure children remain home for 48 hours after symptoms have subsided to avoid the risk of transmitting the disease to others.

Gastro symptoms include nausea, stomach pains, fever, headaches, a loss of appetite and in severe cases, vomiting, and diarrhoea. In case you experience these symptoms, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care

It's common for users to be concerned when they see GPU fans not spinning, but this is often a good thing. Most modern graphics cards employ semi-passive cooling to ensure a quieter experience during non-intensive tasks. When the card needs cooling, the fans will start spinning, and you'll hear them.
