lettuce or orange peppers I ate them both on 2 days in a row . Explosive diarrhea 1/2 to 2 hours after. Not willing to rate the rest of the pepper or more of the lettuce to figure which is the problem. I washed everything before eating! Head of lettuce and a hug orange pepper. I have cut in 4ths . I have1/2 left of the orange pepper and a lot of lettuce but not willing to eat either to find which one is the problem. 1/2 hr after eating I felt sick and diarrhea started it k ok a test 2 hrs after.

Recall details: Hy-Vee, Inc., based in West Des Moines, Iowa, is recalling an additional 12 salads a... cross its eight-state region due to the potential that they may be contaminated with Cyclospora. The potential for contamination was brought to Hy-Vee’s attention when Fresh Express – which manufactures the product – announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) expanded its investigation of an outbreak of Cyclospora in the upper Midwest section of the United States.
The 12 salads are in addition to the 12 oz. Hy-Vee Bagged Garden Salad product that Hy-Vee pulled last week after initial notification of the investigation. Hy-Vee now has 13 private label bagged salad products (all expiration dates) that are being recalled as a result.
The products were distributed to Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The list below outlines the 13 products that have been recalled. No other Hy-Vee branded salads are impacted by today’s recall.

Since the last case count update, 49 new laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections have been reported. A total of 690 people with laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections associated with this outbreak have been reported from 13 states. 37 people have been hospitalize... d and no deaths have been reported.

CDC last update states that a total of 641 people with laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections associated with this outbreak have been reported from 11 states (Georgia, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota reported new cases) 37 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported to date.

According to the last update by the CDC, a total of 509 people with laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections associated with this outbreak have been reported from 8 states (six cases have been reported in North Dakota) 33 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported to date.

CDC announced that since the last update, a total of 46 additional people have laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections. The total of reported people for this outbreak increased to 122 from seven states (nine new cases from Wisconsin).

The CDC and the FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections linked to bagged salad mix products at ALDI, Hy-Vee, and Jewel-Osco stores. To date, 76 persons have been reported sick on six states (IA, IL, KS, MO, MN, NE) where 16 people have required hospitalization and no deaths have been reported.
CDC is advising consumers not to eat salads or products containing any of the following products:
- ALDI Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salad. Sold in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Minnesota
- Hy-Vee Brand Garden Salad. Sold in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, and Nebraska
- Jewel-Osco Signature Farms Garden Salad. Sold in Illinois

In their investigation, they have identified certain products linked to the outbreak – including Fresh Express’ private label products at retailers across the country that were impacted – including one for Hy-Vee.
The recall is limited to 12 oz. Hy-Vee Bagged Garden Salad, all UPCs, and expirations dates. The product was distributed to Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. No other Hy-Vee food items are impacted by this recall. Hy-Vee has not received any reports of illness due to consumption of its Hy-Vee Bagged Garden Salad.
Customers who purchased this product should discard it or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund. Symptoms of cyclosporiasis begin an average of seven days after ingestion of Cyclospora. Symptoms of cyclosporiasis may include: watery diarrhea (most common), loss of appetite, weight loss, cramping, bloating, increased gas, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, and low-grade fever. If not treated, symptoms can persist for several weeks to a month or more. People who are in poor health or who have weakened immune systems may be at higher risk for severe or prolonged illness.
