Kroger Bagged Collard Greens - recalled due to Listeria monocytogenes

Baker Farms of Norman Park, GA is voluntarily recalling a single production run of Kroger 16-ounce bagged Collard Greens, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The product was distributed to various Kroger retail locations in the Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The recall also impacts parts of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. To date, there have been no reports of illness related to the consumption of this bagged collard green product.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The recalled product,16-ounce bags of Kroger Collard Greens, were sold in the produce department and can be identified as having a UPC code of 11110-18171 with a Best By date of 10-16-2023 and production code 110093-387 (see picture below). All potentially affected products have been removed from store shelves.
The issue was discovered by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture while conducting routine product testing. Customers who have purchased the affected product are urged to return it to their local store for a full refund.
This recall is being issued with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.

As of December 6th, 230 people infected with one of the outbreak strains of Salmonella have been reported from 38 states. Illnesses started on dates ranging from October 16, 2023, to November... - Freshness Guaranteed and RaceTrac cantaloupe chunks, seasonal blend, melon mixes, and fruit mixes with best-by dates from November 7 through November 12.
- Vinyard cantaloupe cubes, melon medleys, and fruit medleys sold in Oklahoma stores from October 30 through November 10.
- Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Trader Joe’s cantaloupe chunks, mixed melons, fruit medleys, and fruit trays with best-by dates from October 28 through November 8.
- Cut Fruit Express cantaloupe chunks, melon mixes, and fruit mixes with use-by dates from November 4 through November 6.
- ALDI whole cantaloupes, cantaloupe chunks, and pineapple spears with best-by dates from October 27 through October 31.
- Bix Produce cantaloupe fruit cups and mixed fruit cups with sell-by dates of October 25 and October 26.
CDC is advising people not to eat, sell, or serve recalled fruit. Additionally, the CDC is concerned about this outbreak because the illnesses are severe and people in long-term care facilities and childcare centers have gotten sick. Do not eat pre-cut cantaloupes if you don’t know whether Malichita or Rudy brand cantaloupes were used.

This happened to me in March 2022. I purchased the St. Patrick's Day special edition box at CVS. This makes me ask, was your box a special edition version? I had it for 8 days. No need to go to the ER. The only treatment they can give that may help you feel better is fluids via IV. I did not have an appetite so I was only eating a cup of LC daily. Once I was able to narrow down what could be the culprit, I immediately started feeling better because I stopped eating them! Who knew the magically delicious cereal could make you so sick? Bix Produce of Little Canada, MN., is issuing a voluntary recall of Grab N’ Go containers of cut cantaloupe and mixed fruit cups due to the potential for Salmonella contamination in the products. These cantaloupe products were derived from cantaloupes that were involved in the recent Malachita... See More cantaloupe recall. The affected cantaloupe products were distributed from October 19th through October 20th, 2023, and were sold in the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin at convenience stores, delis, and business cafes.
