My husband and I had a dinner guest on Friday evening, and I bought minced Beef at Dowlings Butchers at their unit in Bloomfields Shopping Center, Dun Laoghaire. Before buying I repeated twice that I was going to make Steak tartare and I asked the butcher’s recommendation about the meat. I underlined that it will be eaten raw therefore I needed the best possible meat. That was the main course of the meal, the rest was Salad and a frozen dessert. The dinner was prepared within 2 hours from buying the ground meat, and during this time it was stored in the fridge. I'd also like to add that I love Steak tartare and I prepare it frequently, and no one ever had any problems because of it. The following day (Saturday), between 4pm and 6pm all three of us who had eaten from the Steak tartar started to have similar symptoms of strong diarrhea, fever and intestinal pain, which symptoms still last well into Sunday evening when I'm writing this. Bought some fresh sliced deli meat (roasted Turkey and toupee ham) and made sandwiches for dinner. Added iceberg lettuce, hothouse Tomato and maple leaf precooked Bacon (we heated it up before adding it to our sandwiches). This was put on whole west Sub buns. We also had mini vanilla Xmas cupcakes for dessert. Within 2 hours I felt nauseous, chills, aches and then vomited four times and had diarrhea twice. This lasted for two hours. Then in the morning my wife who ate the same as me vomited (approximately 6.5 hours after consuming). Not entirely sure what the culprit was but will be avoiding the deli from sobeys in the future. The Turkey was brand new and was opened in front of me but ham was already opened when I got there. The meat was shaved using a meat cutter...but we got there fairly late in the day so the blade may not have been cleaned and could have had been cross contaminated. Vegas were washed before eating. They used cans of Butane with a torch attachment to cook the meat - ir may I say chard the outside of the pork leaving it raw - in order to speed up how they expedited the high volume of orders. I ordered to go on 11/14/28 in the evening, ordered Chicken Katsu with brown Rice and side egg roll. I ate almost half the Katsu and sauce, most of the side Salad and my egg roll. Only a few bites of the brown Rice as it was extremely dry. I woke in the middle of the night with severe stomach cramps, fever and sweat dripping off my head and passed out on bathroom floor.
