July 29, 2021, My step-father, daughter, and I had the Chang's lettuce wraps with chicken (shared daughter only had bite of chicken from dish), house-made pork egg rolls (step-father), crispy green beans (daughter tried one), sesame chicken (daughter), kung pao chicken (myself). Daughter and I had ice water. Step-father had unsweetened ice tea. Immediately after leaving we all had a stomach ache. Later diarrhea for all of us. Then I had 2 1/2 days of vomiting, diarrhea, and became weak with dizziness and paresthesia across face, limbs, chest, and back. Ended up having to take an ambulance to UAB. The ER was too full and I wouldn't have been seen for 12 hours. Talked to an after hours nurse from my primary care physician's office who told me to either call an ambulance or go straight to an ER. I ended up at Brookwood where I was treated for extreme dehydration. My labs showed elevated white blood count, my blood and urine were High in proteins from dehydration. Then I ended up with a parasite infection. Flukes. Which you can get from water chestnuts. I have never felt so sick in my entire lifeand that is saying something. Be careful out there!
I believe it was water chestnuts in the lettuce wraps appetizer. My step-dad, daughter (11), and myself all had stomach problems after. Diarrhea. I myself had all 4 symptoms from the questionnaire plus I ended up with flukes. A parasite that can come from water chestnuts. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Dehydration, Dizziness, Other, Weakness, Stomach Pain
