Food Poisoning Report – Popeyes Cardiff Bay

I visited the Popeyes Cardiff Bay restaurant on 30 August 2026 and ordered six chicken wings.

When I bit into the sixth and final wing, I noticed that the inside appeared to be raw/undercooked. I immediately stopped eating it and did not consume any more of the wing. I took a photograph of the chicken because I intended to make a complaint to the restaurant.

There was a very long queue at the time and, as I was already full, I did not want a replacement meal. I therefore left the restaurant without reporting the issue in person.

Unfortunately, later that night I developed severe vomiting and diarrhoea. The vomiting was extremely intense and continued throughout the night. It was so severe that I have subsequently pulled a muscle in my chest from the force of vomiting.

Other members of my family also ate at the same restaurant on the same occasion, but they ordered different food items. They have all remained completely well. I was the only person in my family who ate the chicken wings.

Given the timing of the symptoms and the fact that I was the only person who consumed the wings, I am concerned that I may have suffered food poisoning as a result of eating the chicken.

I am particularly concerned because one of the wings appeared visibly raw/undercooked when I bit into it. I stopped eating it immediately, but I am concerned that I may nevertheless have consumed contaminated or undercooked chicken from the same batch.

I would like this incident to be formally recorded and investigated. I believe the possibility of undercooked chicken being served, followed by severe gastrointestinal illness, should be taken seriously.
