Review / Formal Complaint: Taste Place Restaurant – Sofia, Bulgaria I visited Taste Place on the evening of Friday, 27th June, shortly after arriving in Sofia. I had not eaten since the previous evening due to an early morning flight, so I was looking forward to a proper meal. I ordered the small pork ribs with Jack Daniel’s sauce and fries, along with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. While the ribs were tasty and I was quite hungry, I did notice they weren’t served particularly hot. I didn’t eat many of the fries. I left the restaurant at around 7:30pm and went straight to bed, exhausted from the day. Unfortunately, I woke around 4:00am with severe nausea and stomach discomfort, which quickly developed into vomiting and diarrhoea by 6:00am. The symptoms continued for 36 hours, leaving me very unwell and needing medication (Imodium) to help manage it. Looking back, I also became increasingly concerned by the lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. The overall environment appeared poorly maintained. I didn’t witness much handwashing among staff, and some of the individuals present (perhaps staff or owners) seemed disengaged and inattentive to the customers. It did not feel like a well-run or hygienic establishment. I wanted to document this experience as a matter of concern — both to warn others and in case there are ongoing food safety issues at this location. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Cramps, Nausea
