On July 19th, my husband, myself and two friends ate from the prepared foods bar at Whole Foods on Lane Ave. Items consumed: chicken salad sandwich, chicken curry masala, and creamy chicken salad. All four of us experienced 7-10 days of extreme nausea, diarrhea and some vomitting. I seemed to be the worst affected and went to the doctor, who prescribed a strong antibiotic, which got me on the road to health. My husband lost 10 lbs and I lost 5 lbs. I called and reported it to Whole Foods. It seems impossible that we were the only people affected. Because it lasts so long, I think some people are probably inclined to think they have a virus (vs. food-borne), but I have contracted campylobacter before (11 years ago in China) and know how long it can take bacterial infections to subside. Whole Foods, please follow your basic ServSafe protocols and make sure your chicken is properly cooked! | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting

in-house brand and it claims to be lactose free it’s merely just a tag. If you grab a milk carton of lactose, free milk if it looks like it’s bloated imagine that your stomach it’s gonna happen. Do not buy these products if I were you switch to rice, milk, or silk almond milk, but don’t buy it in that store. My advice go to Whole Foods, or along the lines of Kroger. Anything under those two even Walmart I wouldn’t even go there. Not being political. On a serious note, we need to start watching the cameras on the food more than we are on theft. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The product best by date can be found on the bottom of the retail box. A photograph of the package can be found below.

Finished product testing on the mango bars revealed that the finished product may contain Salmonella. The company has ceased distribution of the affected product. The company is conducting an investigation as to what caused the problem and will take effective action to prevent any future issue.

Consumers who have the affected product should not consume this product.
