Expired Chicken Causes Illness - Winn Dixie, Ocala Florida

1 year ago reported by user-pvqbh362 business

Winn-Dixie, 7131 N US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34475, USA

7131 North US Highway 441, Ocala, 34475 Florida, United States

I am writing to provide the latest updates regarding our situation, which is still under evaluation pending final lab results and a professional doctor's opinion. This information has been gathered from personal and professional sources.
On November 31, 2024, we purchased $200 worth of food from Winn-Dixie located at 441 + 326 in Ocala, FL. 1st Person Purchased contaminated food on that same date 2nd person consumed the seafood on November 31 around 4:00 PM and experienced only mild ill effects.
1st Person consumed chicken wings at noon on December 1, 2024, and then the seafood around 4:00 PM. At the time, she was unaware that the lemon pepper chicken was set to expire on December 2. Following her consumption of the chicken at noon, she became severely ill by 1:00 AM that night and required hospitalization.
2nd Person ate the lemon pepper chicken on December 3, 2024, and began showing symptoms similar to 1st Person, including headaches, flu-like symptoms, coughing up phlegm, severe stomach swelling, and violent vomiting. Although these were two different chickens, they came from the same source, presumably the kitchen area. The seafood was sourced from the other side of the building.
1st Person has been hospitalized with extreme pain and violent vomiting, necessitating continuous sedation. She has undergone observational surgery, which was life-threatening due to her compromised immune system, and had biopsies as well as stool samples taken for lab analysis. I have retained the contaminated lemon chicken for testing in a laboratory.
After speaking with the attending physician team, they remain uncertain whether the cause of illness was viral or bacterial and are awaiting the results of the biopsy and lab reports.
Please note Final test results has not been determined for 1st Person. 2ndPerson still showing signs of throat issues coughing phlegm | Symptoms: Nausea, Stomach Pain, Fever, Chills, Headache, Vomiting, Swelling, Cough
