Robotics competition at Lee’s Summit North High School linked to Gastrointestinal Illness outbreak

The Jackson County Health Department (JACOHD) is investigating an outbreak of an unidentified gastrointestinal illness among attendees at a robotics competition held at Lee’s Summit North High School from March 29th - April 1st. The announcement was made on Monday after JACOHD received the first reports of... See More sick attendees. So far, more than seventy cases have been reported, with no diagnosis included, and the majority of these cases are from the metro area.
The competition involved teams from schools outside of Jackson County, including Kansas, Oklahoma, and Brazil, prompting JACOHD to coordinate with the local health departments of the respective areas in order to properly investigate the reports. The risk to the general public is currently low, with reported symptoms being mild and including chills, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, and a low-grade fever.
The health department has reached out to attendees with a survey to gather more information about those who have been affected or who may have been exposed in order to help with the investigation. Those who are still experiencing symptoms are encouraged to contact their local health department for more information about available testing resources.
At this time, the cause of transmission and the exact nature of the illness remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing. JACOHD encourages participants to complete the survey in a timely fashion to assist with the investigation.

An outbreak of norovirus has been confirmed at Grand County Schools by the Southeast Utah Health Department. The health department is urging students with symptoms to stay home until their symptoms have ceased for 48 hours. The department is also asking that siblings of students attending Grand County Schools who have similar symptoms to stay home from their schools as well.
Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.

My wife & I went at this location today. She had never had it & I have but it's been awhile. She's tiny & doesn't need to eat a lot to be full so I decided to order a chicken deluxe sandwich & chicken strips meal so... See More we could both eat the waffle fries & strawberry milkshakes with it. She only ate the waffle fries & had a milkshake while I had the fries, sandwich & milkshake. As I'm writing this, I have not touched the strips & I'm scared to now because of what happened...
We live about 10 minutes away so when we got home we were eating & drinking our food & not to long afterwards I immediately had to rush to the bathroom & had explosive diarrhea, & was on the toilet for about 15minutes getting everything out.. I finally finished & go back to her & about another 15minutes later I was rushing back to the bathroom, all while not eating or drinking anything else.
My wife was fine at first but became sleepy so she took a nap but about 45minutes later she woke up & was rushing to the bathroom herself for the same situation & it wasn't long before she was going back for round two..
I'm currently just finished round three, because my wife was urging me to get out so she can go for her own round three...
