The Chesapeake Health Department along with the staff at Grassfield Elementary School are investigating stomach illness (suspect norovirus) in the elementary school. The source of the illness had not been determined yet. The symptoms reported include stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, a low-grade fever and chills. Health... The Chesapeake Health District sent out a statement to Grassfield parents on Thursday saying that an investigation has been launched to find the possible source and prevent further spread. According to the news, the investigation did not interrupt regular school operations.
Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.
