Cozy Vale Creamery has issued a recall for its raw milk and cream products due to the detection of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) in a sample. The strain found is not the same as the one that caused recent illnesses in Washington residents. The investigation into... See More the matter is ongoing. The products were distributed across Western Washington. The recall was initiated after local health partners discovered the presence of STEC in the products during routine testing.

The recalled products include Cozy Vale Creamery raw milk and cream sold in gallon, half-gallon, quart, and pint containers with best by dates from 2/18/24 to 2/29/24 and 3/18/2024 to 3/28/2024. The specific batch and UPC details were not provided.

E. coli bacteria normally live in the intestines of humans and animals. Many strains of E. coli bacteria exist, and most of them are harmless or beneficial to human health. STEC are strains of E. coli that produce Shiga toxin (such as E. coli O157:H7) and can cause serious illness in people.

If you have the recalled Cozy Vale Creamery products at home, do not drink or use them. You can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms such as watery diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting; stomach cramps; and mild fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
