Cargill Meat Solutions announced the recall of approximately 66.3 tons (or 132,606 lbs.) of ground beef products due to possible E.Coli contamination. The CDC issued a food safety alert after a a four-state outbreak of E. coli O26 with 18 illnesses including six hospitalizations and one death was reported on Thursday. This recall is made after the illnesses were confirmed, and ground beef products were identified as the source of the illnesses, acording to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) investigation.
