Mecox Bay Dairy, LLC issued a voluntary recall of Mecox Sunrise washed-rind Tomme style cheese because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers who have purchased any “Mecox Sunrise” cheese are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The recalled cheese was distributed and sold at seven retail locations and one restaurant on Eastern Long Island, NY, and served at one restaurant in Chicago, IL, according to the recall notice by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The product comes in a clear plastic package marked with “Mecox Sunrise” cheese label as shown above.
According to the recall notice published on the FDA website, all shipments from the packing facility are subject to the recall, all affected Mecox Sunrise has been removed from all stores and restaurants. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
