Avocado Food Poisoning

Avocados are healthy but can cause food poisoning. As recently as March 2019, avocados have been recalled for listeria contamination. Along with listeria, salmonella is also a common cause of avocado food poisoning and can occur when bacteria transfer from the peel to the flesh when being cut.

Zoto Sushi, a company operating in select Metro stores, has issued a recall for several of its products due to the undeclared presence of allergens. of Montreal, affects consumers with allergies to soy, wheat, fish, sulphites, or eggs, as well as those with celiac disease or other gluten-induced illnesses. The issue was discovered during routine inspections by MAPAQ and the Food Inspection Division of the City of Montreal. As of now, no cases of allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these foods have been reported to MAPAQ.

The products that are the subject of this warning were offered for sale to the following establishments:

3000, boulevard De La Rousselière, in Montreal
450, boulevard Don-Quichotte, in Notre-Dame -de-l’Île-Perrot
6333, rue Beaubien Est, in Montreal
107, boulevard Cardinal-Léger, in Pincourt
305, boulevard Iberville , in Repentigny

The recalled products include "Zoto Gyoza", "Zoto Avocado Poberge", and "Zoto Shrimp Tempura Rol". These products, sold in transparent plastic containers and refrigerated, may contain allergenic substances not mentioned on the label. The recall applies to all batches of these products whose labels do not include mention of the allergens.

Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction; and do not serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products.

In case you experience harm from allergens or undeclared ingredients, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

My friend has been eating the same things as me on this trip, and my baby has as well. But neither of them had most of what was on my tacos, and I also ate some what I believe was avocado salsa there. They brought the wrong thing with our order, so I had some of that salsa when my friend did not have it, and I wasn’t sure which salsa it was for certain. I am definitely the only one that ate the creamy, green salsa, and possibly also the green tomatillo salsa. I am not one to immediately jump to food poisoning as a cause for some thing, but the fact that I’m the only one that’s been sick for three days, without other general illness, symptoms, and that this has been diarrhea on the level of doing a colonoscopy prep for three days straight now, can only make me conclude it was the food I ate at torchy‘s.  | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Stomach Pain
