    The CDC and the FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Weltevreden infections linked to frozen cooked shrimp supplied by Avanti Frozen Foods. As of June 25, 2021, a total of 6 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Weltevreden have been reported from 2 states (AZ and NV), 2 people were hospitalized and no deaths were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

    The recalled products linked with this outbreak are Frozen cooked shrimp supplied by Avanti Frozen Foods, sold under multiple brand names including 365, Censea, Chicken of the Sea, CWNO, Hannaford, Honest Catch, Meijer, Open Acres, and Waterfront Bistro. Imported between December 2020 to February 2021, but may have been sold in stores more recently. The recall notice was issued by FDA.

    Both CDC and FDA are advising people not to eat, sell, or serve recalled frozen cooked shrimp supplied by Avanti Frozen Foods.

    June 2, 2021

    The CDC and the USDA-FSIS are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteriditis infections linked to raw frozen breaded stuffed chicken products. As of June 2, 2021, a total of 17 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Enteritidis have been reported from 6 states (AZ, IL, IN, MI, MN, and NY), 8 people were hospitalized and no deaths were reported.

    According to the FSIS, the products may be labeled "chicken cordon bleu", chicken with “broccoli and cheese”, or "chicken Kiev", and while they may appear to be ready-to-eat they are in fact raw and need to be fully cooked before consumption. They issued a public health alert to remind consumers about the proper handling and cooking of raw poultry products.

    Both CDC and FSIS, advise consumers to read carefully the labels on raw frozen breaded stuffed chicken products., always cook poultry products to an internal temperature of 165°F, and never eat raw or undercooked poultry.

    The CDC, public health officials and the FDA are conducting an investigation on a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7, where 17 people have been reported sick and 7 of these required hospitalizations.     To date, the CDC advises consumers are not to eat Ready Pac Bistro® Bowl Chicken Caesar Salad, lot #255406963, “Best By” date Oct. 31, 2019. However, the investigation continues to identify the source of this outbreak as the ill people in other states have not reported eating this particular salad.

    FDA advises people to consult their healthcare provider if they suspect that they have developed symptoms similar to the ones of an E. coli infection and to sanitize the cooking surfaces in order to prevent the spreading of foodborne illnesses.
