You can get food poisoning from chili. While chili is typically cooked for long periods killing most germs, improper cooling and reheating can lead to Clostridium perfringens contamination. Chili food poisoning symptoms can begin as soon as 6 hours after eating and include Diarrhea and cramps.

Vomiting was so violent that it continued even after there was seemingly nothing left in me. Anything I ate earlier that day was also consumed by others and no one else was sick. I'm the only one that had Wendy's that night. I honestly can't find anything else to blame. the drive threw; I went home to eat. My stomach felt full so I stopped about 20 -30 minutes in the meal; I felt sick. I went to the bathroom to use it. I was sweating , chills and fever and I was vomiting. I felt dizzy and the cramps were so bad. The meal had Wendy's chili in it while I ate the salad, it was on the side but i put it in. Its a part of the salad.. I believe it was the orange creme frosty and the chili in the meal that had me vomiting. I still feel nausea from after I puked. Wendy's in lebanon , pa is known for making people sick but this was horrible; It felt like I was dying it hurt do bad. The cramping and the vomiting. I vomited 10 times with in the 20-30 minutes. I lost so much fluid; I had to drink pedilite to keep my hydration up. The salad never made me sick; the back potato was dried out. It tasted funny. I hardly ate that. But that chili had a weird taste to it also . I thought it was Normal because they use the burger meat from the nite before; I believe it was the grease from the chili. The milk from the creme frosty as well. I still feel sick. I will have to go to the emergency room if the vomiting does not stop. that morning. Boarded our short flight and within 20 minutes of landing my gf began vomiting, which continued for hours. Resulted in having to take her to the ER as she was losing fluids fast and couldn't hold anything down. Ended up spending 12 hours in the hospital and took 3 full bags of saline (and whatever else) to get her back to normal. Fantastic way to start a vacation. I've since read reviews for this Chili's and they aren't good. Hoping for compensation for the hospital bill and personal damages
