Fish Food Poisoning

The most common fish food poisonings are scombroid and ciguatera. Scombroid is caused by improperly handling of fish producing histamine-releasing bacteria. Symptoms can occur as quickly as 15 mins. Ciguatera is common with tropical and sub-tropical fish and typically causes hot-cold reversal.

United States. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a Tuna Salad Sandwich was mislabeled as an Egg Salad Sandwich, leading to an undeclared allergen of fish (Tuna).

The product in question is the Egg Salad Sandwich, packaged in a 7.22oz (205g) clamshell for individual sale, with the UPC 766375938415. The batch under recall has a use-by date of 03/23/2024. A total of 551 units have been recalled.

Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction; and do not serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products and return them to the store where it was purchased.

The product recalled is the Maketū Pies brand Mussel Pie, weighing 200g. The batch marking is 090424, with a use by date of 25th April 2024 for fresh pies, and a best before date of 15th March 2025 for frozen pies.

The product has not been exported. This recall does not affect any other Maketū Pies brand products. Customers are asked to check the batch and date mark on the front of the packaging. People with a fish allergy should not consume this product and should return it to their retailer for a full refund.
