Garlic Food Poisoning

It is possible to get food poisoning from garlic. The main hazard is homemade garlic-flavored oil if the garlic is contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores. This is responsible for Botulism, an illness that attacks the body's nerves, leading to difficulty breathing, and muscle paralysis.

to date, the recall is of particular importance to individuals with sensitivities to the allergens listed or those with celiac disease or other gluten-induced illnesses.

The products in question include

- Meatball Soup Matzoh (900ml). Allergens: Wheat/Soya. Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- Chicken and Noodle Soup (900ml). Allergens: Wheat/Soya. Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- White Beans & Barley (900ml). Allergens: Soya. Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- Garlic Sauce (230g). Allergens: Sulfites. Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- Saffron Aioli (230g). Allergens: Sulfites. Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- Tzatziki Sauce (230g). Allergens: Sulfites (This product could also contain nuts). Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens
- Andarra Sauce (230g). Allergens: Sulfites (This product could also to contain wheat, of the mustard, from sesame or groundnuts). Lots: All lots of which the label does not include the mention of the presence of allergens

All lots of these products, packaged in transparent plastic containers and sold refrigerated, are included in the recall. The label of the products included, in addition to their name, the words “Phil's Good”. The issue was identified during routine inspections by MAPAQ and the Food Inspection Division of the City of Montreal.

People who are sensitive to the allergens listed above or those with celiac disease are advised not to consume the recalled products. They must return it to the establishment where they bought it.

23. Proper date marking and disposition
- comments: observed ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety (tcs) foods in walk-in cooler and freezer(chicken) not date marked to indicate the product's name and date in which the food must be sold, discarded or consumed within 7 days. Instructed to provide proper labels for date marking and discard date for refrigerated, ready-to-eat, tcs foods held over 24hrs placed in all cold-holding units. Priority foundation violation #7-38-005. Citation issued.

33. Proper cooling methods used; adequate equipment for temperature control
- comments: 4-301. 11 observed improper temperature of refrigerator at 69. 9f with tcs foods stored inside for sale. A held-for-inspection tag has been placed on the unit. Once repaired, fax or email to cdph. Must have cold-holding foods at 41. 0f or below. Priority 7-38-005. Citation issued.

38. Insects, rodents, & animals not present
- comments: observed pest infestation. Noted over 1000 mice dropping on shelves and floors in dry storage area, kitchen are under 3 compartments sink and behind the equipment, in the front prep area and behind a drink cooler in front prep area, dining area and on the floors, on the shelving and the floor behind the shelving in the back hallway. Instructed to clean and sanitize affected areas. Recommended to consult with pest control company to eliminate the pest activity. Priority foundation #7-38-020(a), citation issued

- comments: observed a 1/2' gap at the bottom of the rear exit door. Must provide a tight-fitting seal at all outer openings and close the hole to prevent pests ' entry.

routine inspections by MAPAQ. The products were sold at Nordest Butchery, its boutique at the Jean-Talon market located at 7070 Henri Julien Avenue, Montreal, QC, Canada, and potentially through the Lufa Farms website. No allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The recalled products include "Honey and Garlic Chicken Wings" (containing soy), "Korean Style Marinade Beef Strips" and "Korean Style Marinade Chicken Strips" (containing sulphites), and "Meatloaf" (potentially containing soy, peanuts, and tree nuts). These items were sold in unitary format, and all batches lacking allergen information are subject to recall. The products were vacuum-packed in transparent plastic pouches and sold frozen.
