    The New York’s Department of Agriculture and Markets announced a recall of skewered pepper by Issowazena market due to undeclared peanuts. This product was sold from the retail store Issowazena African Market in the Bronx.

    The recalled product is:
    - Skewered pepper powder, comes in a small... See More plastic bottle of approximately 400 g and also 370 g. Packages are dated as exp. 29/12/2025, exp. 10/6/2024, and some bottles lack expiration date.

    The misbranding was discovered after routine testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of peanuts. The sale of the product has been suspended while the company continues its investigation as to the source of the problem.

    If you have an allergy to peanuts do not eat it, it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction. Please throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

    Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short- term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. To date, we are not aware of any illnesses linked to this recall. Please see attached photos for further identification. On 9/16/22 the firm was notified by their laboratory that a single sample of a product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

    The product was produced on July 22, 2022 and bears the establishment number “34622” on the end flap of the carton.

    The problem was discovered when the producing establishment notified FSIS that it had received consumer complaints that the Korean-Style Beef cartons contained a chicken-based product.
