Pepperoni Food Poisoning

It is possible to get food poisoning from pepperoni. Listeria is a major concern of pepperoni food poisoning and pepperoni has been recalled over listeria concerns as recently as Nov 2019. Studies have shown that symptoms can begin within 24 hours and can be life-threatening if untreated.

Freybe Gourmet Foods Limited has issued a recall for its Pepperoni Smoked Sausage Sticks Original due to the potential presence of metal pieces. The product has been distributed across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

Two sizes are affected: the 500g package with a UPC of 0 64359 73250 0 and the 2kg package. Both sizes bear the batch code "Best Before 2024 MA 30 Est 361."

Consumers are advised not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products. Further updates will be provided by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as the investigation continues.

know it is possible for me to have gotten sick. I did not appreciate her dismissal. I had severe vomiting and diarrhea for the past 2 days. When I initially bit into my pepperoni Stromboli it was cold. It's possible I did not get sick from there, but they were the only place I ate from up to that point. Temperatures ranged from 46. 2f to 56. 4f and included: ham, tuna, turkey, eggs, chicken, pepperoni, salami, cold cut combo and cheese. Manager discarded all items, a combined weight of approximately 30lbs. Valued at approximately $100. 00. Instructed to monitor and keep cold foods at 41f or less. Priority violation 7-38-005 citation issued

41. Wiping cloths: properly used & stored
- comments: observed wiping cloth not properly stored when not in use. Instructed to store in sanitizing solution (must be at the required ppm) when not in use. Maintain same.

49. Non-food/food contact surfaces clean
- comments: observed the lower surface of the cabinet under the beverage station with dirt and debris. Instructed to clean and maintain cabinet surface.
