Pesto, like other jarred foods, could be the source of food poisoning. In 2013, more than 50 individuals in Italy fell ill after consuming pesto that had been contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. The Scarpetta brand Pink Pesto is packed in a plastic container. The lot code is located on the bottom of the container. The lot codes are NN149 expiring on 5/02/2023 and NN164 expiring on 12/09/2023 for a total of 906 units.
The recall was initiated after the firm discovered that product containing tree nuts were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of pine nuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a document-control deviation.
If you have an allergy to pine nuts do not eat it, it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction. Please throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
