Fried chicken from the deli. Tasted like chemicals. We were hungry but couldn't eat it. Did they possibly try to clean something near it and get the cleaner on the chicken, did they improperly clean and rinse their cooking equipment, or was something spilled on the chicken?

While I don't doubt this person got ill, what ingredient could possibly be at fault? Could it be something else that was eaten up to 48 hours prior? Please enlighten me.
