2019 - Pita Hot Fullerton, CA: Pita Hot, the Fullerton, CA restaurant with illnesses that were identified by the crowd-sourcing site iwaspoisoned.com was closed for a second time on June 25. The Orange County Health Agency reported ongoing foodborne illness as the reason for the second closure. The agency suspended the restaurant’s operating permit. Pita Hot was ordered to cease handling food, close, and remain closed until all conditions warranting closure are corrected. |
2019 - Dominican Republic: Four similar deaths have been reported at nearby hotels, and a growing number of claims have surfaced from people who say they were taken suddenly ill here. 2019 - Dominican Republic: There have also been nearly 70 reports of tourists reporting symptoms of food-borne illness in the Dominican Republic since March alone, according to the website IWasPoisoned.com. Several people said they had gotten sick after eating oysters at the Hog Island farm store in Marshall. Two reports came from the Hog Island oyster bar at the San Francisco Ferry Building. Five people said they got sick after eating oysters at a New Year’s Eve party at the Battery. |
2018 - Pasha's San Antonio, TX: The crowd-sourcing website iwaspoisoned.com has posted more than a dozen reports of illnesses among patrons of the restaurant in the past seven days. The restaurant earned more than a dozen violations in May when city inspectors checked the operation. Those violations included problems with the employee hand-washing sink, a buildup of black material in the ice machine and on the walls, plumbing leaks, and improper storage of food. |
2018 - Chipotle Powell, OH: Many people reported “gastrointestinal symptoms” like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea on the website IWasPoisoned.com during the time period identified by the District. In the update on Monday, health officials did not provide any further information on the pathogen behind the illnesses, saying “data analysis is still ongoing and laboratory test results are still pending.” On Thursday, officials tweeted that tests for salmonella, shigella, norovirus and E. coli had all come back negative. |

2018 - Chipotle Powell, OH: More than 100 people said they had fallen sick after eating at a Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc restaurant in Ohio, sending shares of the burrito chain down as much as nine per cent on Tuesday. 2018 - Cracker Barrel Crawfordsville, IN: The incident occurred at the Cracker Barrel located at 1005 Candlewood Lane in Crawfordsville. On Feb. 6, MCHD learned of eight people who became ill after dining at the restaurant on Feb. 3. Iwaspoisoned.com was tracking the incidents at the Cracker Barrel, leading FOX59 to inquire about the norovirus. |
2018 - Panera Phillipsburg, NJ: One case of E. coli was reported to the website iwaspoisoned.com, which allows users to anonymously report suspected food poisoning, from someone who said they ate at a Panera in Raritan, New Jersey on April 4. The person said they had eaten chicken noodle soup, and that a doctor diagnosed them with an E. coli infection. |
2017 - Chipotle Los Angeles, CA: Customers reported their illness on a website that allows them to comment anonymously called iwaspoisoned.com. This is the same site that was used to report illness earlier this year at the Sterling, Virginia, Chipotle store that was temporarily closed due to health concerns. More than 130 customers had complained of foodborne illness symptoms and norovirus, a highly contagious stomach virus, was found to be the cause. |
2017 - Chipotle Los Angeles, CA: News of another outbreak was enough to unnerve Chipotle shareholders. The stock of the Denver, Colo.-based chain fell nearly 5 percent Wednesday on heavy volume. There are five posts on iwaspoisoned.com since Dec. 15 describing incidents involving the Chipotle restaurant on West Pico Boulevard, L.A., although the company indicates that the Dec. 16 ad Dec. 18 posts appear to describe the same incident. |
2017 - Chipotle Los Angeles, CA: A Chipotle spokesperson stated that management was unable to confirm the claims directly, and this location is enhancing cleanliness protocols, which is policy after any reports of illness. One customer, Michelle La, eats at this Chipotle location twice a week and said, “It's very clean. 2017 - Chipotle Los Angeles, CA: ...the fast-casual Mexican restaurant is once again being investigated by health officials after the Los Angeles Health Department received reports from customers and employees experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea after eating at a restaurant located at 4550 W. 2017 - Chipotle Sterling, VA: Chipotle closed the Sterling location on Monday for a “thorough sanitization” after learning of anonymous complaints posted on iwaspoisoned.com, saying it suspected the culprit was norovirus, a common virus that can be spread through food that has been handled by people who are sick. The location reopened on Wednesday. As of late Wednesday night, Patrick Quade, the founder of the food poisoning website, said the site had received reports of 133 people sickened at the Sterling Chipotle. |
