My company ordered a carryout from Chipotle in Milford Ohio on September 7, 2017. Later that evening I felt nauseas suddenly. I went to sleep and woke up with cramping and severe watery stools. In the morning I continued to feel ill but went to work anyway. When I walked in one of my coworkers asked me if I got sick from the Chipotle carry out because one girl called off and 2 other employees who stayed late got sick the night before. It all made sense right at that moment, I had food poisoning from our Chipotle carry out the day before. All four of us had identical symptoms.
I called the Chipotle store to report our illness right away around 830. I spoke to the manager and he apologized profusely, and was very professional. He told me he would speak to the person who works the grill, offered a full refund, and free food. I told him thanks for the offer, but Indidnt want the food, I just wanted to make him aware in case anyone else got sick. He told me he would send my information to a "risk analyst" and I would be contacted soon. He asked me if I went to the doctor, which at that point I hadn't. He told me to call the store back if I decided to go to the doctor. He also asked for the contact info of one other person who got sick and I provided that info. He said she would also be contacted by a risk analyst. It was about 8:50am when I got off the phone when the him.
My cramping and nausea increased and I went to the doctor at noon. The doctor stated they hadn't had any other patience with stomach issues and no stomach bug was going around. She said I had classic food poisoning symptoms, and others had the same symptoms so it was a safe bet I had food poisoning. She prescribed anti nausea medicine and anti cramping medicine. I then went home for the day.
When I got home I called the Chipotle store and informed them I went to the doctor because I had not received any calls from the store or from a "risk analyst." The person I spoke to at the store told me he wasn't sure who told me to call the store to tell the doctor and there wasn't anything he could do for me except pass my info to corporate. He did not seem like he was told customers got sick from their store either.
Saturday th next day I was on th toilet at least 3 times an hour with completely watery diarrhea through the entire day. That evening still no call to me from Chipotle, so I texted the other girl that got sick that I passed on her info to Chipotle to see if she was contacted. She told me she was contacted at 930am by a "risk analyst". The analyst told her she looked into things and nobody else reported being sick and further no employees reported being sick from the food and she could determine our illnesses were "isolated instances". What this means is around 45 minutes after I reported the illness, she was able to determine nobody else got sick and despite it being 1.5 hours before the store even opened that no employee from the previous day got ill from the food. It doesn't take a genius to determine there is no way she was able to call conclude at 930am the next day, 1.5 hours prior to the store opening that no other customers got sick and that no employe got sick. She didn't call me because, number one Chipotle hoped we would just go away, and 2 she hoped the girl bought her illogical conclusion it was isolated and spoke to me about their conversation. It 430am Sunday morning, 3 days later and here I sit on the toilet, my 6th trip of th night still ill. I contacted the Clermont County Board of Health tonight. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Cramps
