UPDATE - Dec 20th, 2019
The CDC announced that 36 additional people have reported sick with this E. coli strain, and now the total of ill people rises to 138 up to date. 72 people have required hospitalization and no deaths have been reported. The suggestion to avoid Romaine from the Salinas, CA growing regions still stands.


UPDATE - Dec 04th, 2019
According to the latest update from the CDC, the number of people reported sick increased to 102 (35 more since the last update) from 23 states. 58 of the reported ill have required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported. The suggested consumer action continues to be avoiding Romaine from the Salinas, CA growing region.

UPDATE - Nov 27th, 2019
The CDC announced that 27 more people have been reported sick with this E. coli strain since the last update. Now, the total of persons reported sick increases to 67 from 19 states. 39 people have been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported to date.

UPDATE - Nov 22nd, 2019
23 more people reported sick with the E. coli O157:H7 which increases to 40 the total of people sick with this E. coli strain in 16 states (AZ, CA, CO, ID, IL, MD, MI, MN, MT, NJ, NM, OH, PA, VA, WA, and WI). 28 of the cases required hospitalization and no deaths have reported to date.

The ongoing investigation by the FDA and the CDC identified the Romaine lettuce from the Salinas, CA growing region as a source of the E.coli O157:H7 sicknesses.

The authorities advise you to check your home for any type of romaine lettuce (including precut lettuces and salad mixes) and verify the harvest region, if it is Salinas, CA or if you are not sure of the source, discard the products and not consume them.

At the same time, the FDA updated the label list regarding the recall of more than 75,000 pounds of salad products by Missa Bay, which included products sold under the following brands Aldi, Bonduelle, Domino's, Giant Eagle, Marketside, Sam's club, Signature, Target, and many others. The sizes, batches, and UPCs of the products vary, and all lots that do not have the allergens indicated on the label are affected. Please do not consume this product if you have it at home and return it to the store where it was purchased.
