Salmonella Bovismorbificans Outbreak linked to Possible Sprouts Source

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare and the Finnish Food Authority are investigating a Salmonella Bovismorbificans outbreak potentially linked to sprouts. Since March, 32 individuals across Finland have fallen ill due to the infection, which is believed to have been contracted domestically.The outbreak has prompted a thorough investigation by the Finnish Food Authority, which is working alongside local food control authorities to trace the source. Preliminary findings suggest that many of those affected consumed uncooked sprouts prior to becoming ill. Efforts are ongoing to identify the specific causes and origins of the contamination.
The outbreak was identified after a noticeable increase in Salmonella Bovismorbificans cases was reported in March and April. Health authorities began an investigation, which led to the suspicion of sprouts as a potential source. The investigation is part of a broader effort to ensure food safety and prevent further cases.
