King County Public Health (KCPH) announced they continue to investigate an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 linked to several Evergreen restaurants in King County, WA. To date, there have been 13 confirmed cases, from which 3 have required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported so far.
There are no conclusions yet as to what caused this outbreak but the data available indicates that this strain is closely related to the strain of the national E. coli outbreak linked to the romaine lettuce from Salinas, CA. KCPH indicates that this outbreak could have been caused by a contaminated product delivered to these restaurants.
