26/10/2024 . My whole family and many other people here have become infected with norovirus. The staff are all wearing gloves and masks but there is no official information why, so people are not taking precautions such as using the gloves provided in buffet. The travel agents rep has told me they know it’s rife but again are not officially telling anyone this until they get sick and are then asked for help. The Doctor came to see us and confirmed this bug is rife in several hotels including ours and has been for a few weeks and it’s norovirus , he was going to see additional new patients just after he saw us in our same hotel too . My assumption is the hotel plan to deny its existence and I’m surprised the package holiday company is following suit as they have a duty of care. We used the safety precautions at each meal washing hands thoroughly before going to canteen and wear the gloves to serve ourselves(we managed 2 meals and then got ill and have been in bed for 3 days since with no food)but if just one person does not wear the gloves then what’s the point. The hotel is providing alcohol sanitizer which doesn’t kill norovirus according to nhs uk so this is just one extra point of contact that everyone is touching and spreading the germs . As a family we have all spent the first 48 hours with terrible vomiting and loose bowel and have not left the hotel since our holiday started. The day we got sick we saw piles of vomit around the hotel and there are other cases of what we have according to some workers and they are terrified of catching it themselves. None of us ate any meat or fish items and we all ate different things to each other but I’d expect this is more down to touching contaminated surfaces and peoples poor hygiene and incorrect sanitation. If they had put signs up about any bugs then maybe people may wash hands properly, I’m disgusted that jet2 didn’t issue warnings or cancel the holidays | Symptoms: Other, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting
