1 year ago source nourish.schnucks.com

Recall notice

Illinois, United States

Schnuck Markets is recalling select Schnucks-brand applesauce pouches because the supplier, Purcell International, has notified the company of elevated levels of lead found in the cinnamon raw material used by Austrofood SAS, the manufacturer of the applesauce cinnamon pouches. This recall does not affect Schnucks stores in the Rockford, Illinois area, DeKalb, Illinois or Janesville, Wisconsin.

The affected products are:
- Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch, 12 pk.UPC: 4131801152
- Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch, 4 pk. UPC: 4131801155
- Schnucks Applesauce Pouch Variety, 20 pk. UPC: 4131801157

Do not consume the recalled products. Affected products may be returned to the Schnucks or Eatwell Market store of purchase for a full refund.

Lead is a harmful substance that can have adverse effects on people of all ages and health conditions. It's crucial to be especially cautious when it comes to children, as they are more vulnerable to lead poisoning. Even though most children may not display immediate signs of lead exposure, it's important for parents and caregivers to seek advice from a healthcare professional if they suspect a child has been in contact with lead.

Short-term exposure to lead can lead to various symptoms, including headaches, abdominal pain or colic, vomiting, and anemia. Prolonged exposure to lead may result in additional symptoms such as irritability, lethargy, fatigue, muscle aches or a tingling/burning sensation, constipation, difficulty concentrating or muscular weakness, tremors, and weight loss.

If you are experiencing symptoms after eating this product it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist seek medical attention.
