The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) along with environmental health officers from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, are investigating an E. Coli STEC outbreak linked to Hobbledown Adventure Farm Park located in Epsom.Hobbledown has been shut since July 27 while investigations take place after 3 children so far have fallen ill with this bacterial infection following their visit to the attraction. They have contacted everyone who has visited since July 12 to alert them to the symptoms.
According to the regional deputy director for UKHSA South East, they are investigating potential sources of these infections, and measures are being put in place to help prevent further cases. STEC can cause illnesses ranging from mild to bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. In a small number of people, it can lead to more serious outcomes.
The UKHSA recommends you stay off work or school for 48 hours after vomiting or diarrhea has subsided. However, those working with children, preparing food, or healthcare workers should be screened for STEC before returning to work.
