May 2nd, 2025:
San Diego County public health officials are investigating a Salmonella outbreak connected to Aladdin Mediterranean Café in Clairemont. The outbreak has resulted in 14 confirmed and probable cases, with five individuals hospitalized.

The affected individuals range in age from 18 to 79 years and reported consuming food from Aladdin Mediterranean Café between April 25 and April 26, 2025. The County's Environmental Health and Quality Department, in collaboration with Public Health Services, is currently investigating the outbreak. The exact source of the contamination has not yet been determined.

The issue came to light when Aladdin Mediterranean Café voluntarily closed its doors upon notification of the outbreak. This allowed health officials to conduct further testing and interview staff members. The restaurant continues to cooperate closely with the County during the investigation. The establishment will be permitted to resume operations once the investigation concludes and it is confirmed that there is no ongoing risk.
