My entire party is currently sick with food poisoning after eating here last night, January 14, 2023 (everyone woke up this morning around 6:30/7a with bubble guts and vomiting, which they’ve all been experiencing for the past 17 hours). Although we all had delicious gator bites and crab stuffed beignets, I’m the only one who is not sick (and haven’t been sick at all post our dinner last night). If anyone was expected to be sick it was me after experiencing the terrible crab cakes I received there (advertised lump crab cakes; they looked more like shredded salmon croquettes and tasked like potted meat). On Wednesday 1/04//2023, my son asked me to drop off lunch and I stopped by this food place, and ordered the 6” Mexicali. See More and he told me it could be the wrapping paper they use for the sandwiches, so I didn’t think anything of it after that. I dropped off the lunch. I know he didn’t have breakfast that morning and the night before he had a fresh homemade meal of brown rice broccoli, and chicken, as did the rest of the family at around 6 pm. But right after school when I picked him up on Wednesday, he was complaining that he had a horrible stomach pain, headache, and he felt like throwing up. I immediately stopped by the store to pick up Pepto-Bismol for the symptoms, and Pedialyte just in case. At around 7 pm he started vomiting and told me he had diarrhea. He missed school Thursday and Friday of that week, and Monday through Wednesday. I took him to the doctor on Monday morning as that was the first available appointment. They ran blood tests and everything came back normal but he is still having cold sweats, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and pounding headaches ever since. He literally will take naps throughout the day and eat very little as the food he eats makes him more bloated and causes great stomach pain, and vomiting. He is staying hydrated drinking Pedialyte, Gatorade, and water at all times. Tylenol is not helping the unbearable pounding headache at all. I know for a fact this was food poisoning from here because we ate the same thing except the sandwich he had for lunch. The recalled jars of Chicken & Gnocchi Soup were distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona,... See More California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin in retail stores between December 8th, 2022, and January 27th, 2023. No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date.
The affected soup is labeled as Chicken & Gnocchi, but will contain vegetable minestrone, which is dark red. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The product is packaged in a 16-ounce, clear glass jar marked with the following code date printed on the top of the jar: Best By NOV 15 2024 EST 251 Code Date 2320 MDV 046030Z009, UPC 747479400015. Only soup with Code Date 2320 MDV 046030Z009 is part of the recall.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the egg-containing vegetable minestrone was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg because it was mistakenly labeled as Chicken & Gnocchi. Please see the attached photos for assistance with identifying the affected product. Consumers who have purchased jars of the recalled product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
