yesterday, Marie Callender's (frozen) New Orleans Style Chicken Alfredo Bowl, package expiration date 12/15/2023. Food Poisoned on 12/15/22 (ironic as it was exactly one year from the exp date). I cooked the item according to instructions and actually left in over additional 5 minutes to be sure... See More it was thoroughly cooked. (I have concerns about chicken due to current outbreak of bird flu). Checked temperature and it read 180 degrees. Ate at around 5pm. Water for drink. No other items were eaten. At about 8:30pm, I started to experience severe stomach and intestinal cramps. Has a small bout of diarrhea. Laid down but could not stay that way. By 9pm I had to vomit. Some of the dinner was visible (the red peppers in the entree). Vomited again at around 9:15pm. Then had another bout of diarrhea. I was able to get 2 Pepto pills down and felt a little better afterwards. Today, 12/16/22), my stomach still hurts, but I am attributing that to the violent vomiting. See More all of a sudden different food corporations started putting something different in a lot of our food, if you notice many foods now state on the label “contains a bioengineered food ingredient” from what I have found out that it can contain several bioengineered ingredients but they only have to post that now, it is being put in so many things we eat, almost everything including flour and sugar, that is what I found out is was making me so sick, so others should pay attention to that possibly! The FSIS is issuing a public health alert due to concerns that the gravy component of ready-to-eat Hy-Vee beef pot roast entrée products may contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the finished product label. A recall was not requested because the products are... See More no longer available for purchase. These products were shipped to retail locations in IL, IA, KS, MS, MO, NB, SD, and WI. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
The affected products are:
- 11.6 oz. plastic containers containing “HyVee mealtime BEEF POT ROAST DINNER” with Best If Use By dates of 01/03/2023 - 01/24/2023 and lot codes of 22361-23017.
- 25.5 oz. plastic containers containing “HyVee mealtime BEEF POT ROAST DINNER” with Best If Used By dates of 01/02/2023 - 01/24/2023 and lot codes of 22360-23016.
These products were produced on various dates between December 26, 2022 and January 17, 2023 and bear establishment number “EST. 51558” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers with an allergy to wheat are aware that these products should not be consumed.
The problem was discovered when the establishment identified that they received a substitute gravy mix from their spice supplier that includes wheat, whereas the normal gravy mix does not. The establishment notified FSIS that the label on the back of the product does not list wheat contained in the substitute gravy mix.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers with a wheat allergy who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
In case you experienced harm from allergens or undeclared ingredients, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
