Tues afternoon (1:30 pm) I bought a mango green tea and salad from here and within 2 hours of drinking and eating I started feeling like I was drugged or dosed with something. My body started feeling like I was dosed with something, body highs, highly emotional... See More state, very dizzy, lethargic, confusion, numbness in entire body After immediately going to the ER they tested my blood and saliva to determine what was going on. My drug panel came back negative but saliva test came back positive for Toxic levels of Alcohol which was impossible because the only thing I had to eat or drink all day was water and the tea and salad I just bought from here. I was NOT feeling drunk, I was feeling like I was drugged and my body going through body highs and hyper emotional every 10-15 mins. My body did NOT feel right. The ER informed me that they only test for alcohol not what type of alcohol but other forms could be Antifreeze and rubbing alcohol. They told me with the toxicity levels it had to be something I drank, so I told them the only thing I drank was water from home and a tea I bought about an hour or two before so I told my husband to go home and get the rest of the tea. I wanted them to test to see if the tea had the same levels as my saliva and sure enough it DID! They can’t confirm which type of alcohol it was but we are going to get it tested but all my symptoms were in line with Antifreeze poisoning or something Similar.
We went to the restaurant and let management know this had happened, we filed a police report and they are looking into surveillance video to see if my drink was the only one tampered with or if it was a batch. I’ve reported it to poison control. My body still does not feel normal a couple days later.
My fear is this got in the hands of kid/teenager or another adult and had a similar reaction. Problem is if anyone went to the hospital as well and it shows up as alcohol toxicity someone might not know to link it to a drink they had that day. I had the same tea at a different location and felt nauseous. I couldn't eat anything yesterday after drinking the tea. I'm hoping it was just dirty commercial tea brewers. I'm not buying iced tea from salad and go again.
