Hosyaushka Shelled Sunflower Seeds recalled due to salmonella

4 months ago source fsai.ie

Recall notice

Ireland

Hosyaushka has issued a recall for a batch of its Shelled Sunflower Seeds due to the presence of Salmonella. The product has been distributed nationwide across various retail outlets.

People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.

The product recalled is the Hosyaushka, shelled sunflower seeds (Sonnenblumenkerne), with a pack size of 250g. The batch code is 229/23A, and it carries a best before date of 30.04.2025.

Retailers are requested to remove the affected batch from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale. Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated batch and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers. Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch.

In case you are experiencing Salmonella symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
