The CFIA announced the recall of One Tang brand Sweet Apricot Kernels by Sungiven Foods Canada Inc. due to natural toxin amygdalin. This product has been sold in British Columbia.The recalled product is:
- One Tang Sweet Apricot Kernel, 180 g, UPC: 6 28546 00723 1, code: 2023.JN.21
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Apricot kernels naturally contain amygdalin, which can release cyanide after being eaten. The human body can eliminate small amounts of cyanide, but larger amounts can result in cyanide poisoning, which could lead to death.
If you have the recalled product in your home, please do not eat it, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
In case you are experiencing cyanide poisoning symptoms such as weakness and confusion, anxiety, restlessness, headache, nausea, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, seizures and cardiac arrest., it is important to report it.
