The Seattle & King County Public Health is investigating an outbreak of salmonellosis linked to Hope International Church located at 355 N 104th St in Seattle. To date, 7 people from 5 separate households reported becoming sick after eating at a potluck at this church on November... No specific source of the food infection has been ascertained as of yet.

Environmental Health investigators associated with the Donated Food Distributing Organizations (DFDO) visited the church on November 21, 2023. The team scrutinized the church's practice concerning storage, reheating, and serving of the food. Factors like improper temperature control were documented during the investigation as potential contributors to the outbreak.

Lab tests were conducted on two of the seven affected individuals, the results of which returned positive for Salmonella. The symptoms of the remaining five, who were not tested, were suggestive of a Salmonella infection. Measures and investigations are ongoing as the situation gets monitored closely by public health officials.
