My son, 3, has been complaining his "butt hurts" and has had diarrhea. Thought it was a virus but today he had bright blue stool. Unnaturally blue. Husband said he's basically eaten two boxes of lucky charms this week. Going to make him stop and see if he's better.. | Symptoms: Diarrhea

Lucky charms turns my poop deep green, but I also have sugar malabsorption from being pumped with antibiotics as a kid (I lack the bacteria needed to process sugar so my body panics and yeast throws a party). My case is probably the blue mixed with bile from the malabsorption. Your son should be fine after cutting down, if not, get him checked for irritable bowel syndrome. Maybe a wheat or gluten intolerance, too (trial and error diet). Lucky Charms doesn't have wheat, but wheat in the diet can cause malabsorption. Food coloring effecting poo can be one of the first signs, or it could be he had so much food coloring that it was unavoidable. But reading the other reports I think it may just be the Winco lucky charms marshmallows in another cereal that are tearing me up so bad.
