“On 2/1/2020 at 11:00 am, I ordered two breakfast sandwich meals. After eating the meal I got a bacterial infection, temperature, vomiting and my temperature got to 105 degrees. I ended up in the Emergency Room at Mercy San Juan where they treated me with large doses of antibiotics. It... was not the flu, the Emergency Room tested me and that came back negative. ”
“Started hurting 5-6 hours later, 4 of us and I’ve if y’all only ate food from restaurant and was not there. Distress, vomiting, stomach cramps, headache, body aches, extreme fatigue ”
“I puked after eating one meal I just threw up minutes ago and it was the only meal I ate today and the symptoms started about a few hours after it was eaten ”
“I ate Chicken Nuggets and was totally fine before that and ever since then I’ve had severe stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting. ”
“On 12/18/2019 I became extremely ill approximately 20 minutes after eating a cheeseburger purchased here. It was the most horrible day I ever had and I am 74 years old! My condition required 2 days of hospitalization. IV's, tests etc. The medical bill came to $19,029.55!! THIS IS NOT AN... ERROR!! After insurance I was stuck for only $90.00 and a day's wages. Off the record, the hospital personnel at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester, MA, told me that it was probably the cheeseburger. Long and short is that I cannot prove this assertion. The evidence went to The Upper Blackstone Water Treatment Plant! I received nothing from them. I even tried settling for a short day's wage plus the $90.00. NOTHING. This story is absolutely true as I cannot imagine anyone making it up Thank you. ”
“My child and I ate key lime pie.
Within 4 hours we were both violently ill. My husband called the restaurant and reported the poisoning to the manager, called MD too but was told we would have to wait out the symptoms. MD said most likely salmonella poisoning.Told to hydrate... but can't keep anything down...totally extremely painful and miserable experience. ”
“My family and I had dinner
We all have the same symptoms
Nausea diarrhea and excessive throwing up (more than 6 times each)
We had dinner on 1/21/20 and all of us were sick back to back at the same time. ”
“Super burrito 3 people got sick. It took about 5 hours for symptoms to show. Nausea was first it lasted about 7 hours. We couldn't sleep. By 3am we started sweating. And then the stomach pains. It took about an extra two hours for myself to experience any pains .... I was first to vomit ”

“Chicken Strips I ordered a chicken strips combo. I had chipotle dipping sauce, a steeped tea with 2 milks 1 sugar, and a honey cruller donut. I felt nauseous within 30 mins of consumption. I was burping a lot and felt that the chicken wasn't sitting well in my stomach.... I ate this at 3:30 or so, it is now almost 8pm and I have been on the toilet 20+ times, I feel extremely nauseous and during the course of writing this I have vomited 3 times. ”
“There is some confusion surrounding the current Coronavirus (called 2019-NocV) outbreak that began in December 2019 and whether you can get it through food. Here is some information:
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found in both animals and humans. Past outbreaks include Middle East Respiratory... Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The current novel Coronavirus (a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans) is thought to originate in live food markets in Wuhan, China through animals and human contact.
How is it transmitted?
Coronaviruses such as the current 2019-NocV are transmitted through the respiratory system, not the gut, so there is a low risk of infection through the consumption of contaminated food. Restaurants can be a site of transmission of coronavirus because of the large numbers of people congregating in close quarters and then coughing/sneezing could spread the disease just like in other places (transportation, schools, etc). But the food itself isn’t a likely vehicle.
Signs of infection?
Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases and those with weakened immune systems, an infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.
Recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO):
Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth+nose when coughing/sneezing, and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
