ER Visit After Seafood Meal - Ocean Basket Gordon's Bay, Cape Town Western Cape

6 years ago reported by user-kxpk2687 business

Ocean Basket Gordon's Bay, Breakwater Lane, Harbour Island, Cape Town, South Africa

1 Breakwater Lane, Cape Town, 7140 Western Cape, South Africa

This is a follow up to my previous report (Aug 2) of food poisoning. My husband's explosive vomiting and diarrhoea continued for the next 5 days. He was unable to keep down ANY food or liquids since the initial food poisoning. Today I took him to the ER at our local hospital - and now he's on various medication, with an instruction to return if the symptoms still don't abate.
I also reported this incident to the restaurant manager the day following our meal there. He quickly ushered me out of earshot of the patrons dining at that time. He offered only "I'm sorry to hear that", and questioned if we could have mistaken the symptoms for another type of "bug". He also asked if we'd gone to a doctor, but by that early stage I'd only picked up rehydration meds from a local pharmacy. Today it was definitely time to seek urgent medical help as all intake was being expelled, even water. Wish I'd kept some of the initial vomit for testing purposes. I urged the restaurant manager to ensure good hygiene standards in the kitchen. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting
