Food Safety Report - Trader Joe's, Paramus New Jersey

6 years ago reported by user-pnzj4553 business

Trader Joe's, New Jersey 17, Paramus, NJ, United States

This past Saturday, Veterans Day 2017, I drank a very small amount of juice they were offering at their sample kiosk in the back of the store. As soon as I swallowed it, my stomach rumbled. About 7 hours later I woke up with horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea that lasted two days. The sparkling juice was served from an uncovered pitcher and tasted warmer than room temperature. The young woman working in the kiosk that night was also baking a box dessert from scratch and had half prepared food sitting out on the counter. Several other employees came into the food area to look at the dessert baking in the oven and have conversations over uncovered food. Another stock room employee took a dessert sample ate it then passed her used plate and utensils to the food kiosk worker to throw in the garbage. The food kiosk girl was wearing gloves and did not once change them between activities. She also mentioned to another worker that she was new there, which begs the question if she had proper food training safety. All of the employees and supervisors involved should be reprimanded and retrained. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps
