“While the food tasted good, there was a problem that will lead to future illnesses if not remedied. I'm not sure if this is directly caused by this visit, as my stomach has been upset since about an hour after eating there today, but could be related to weather changes too. From the moment we were... sat in our booth, there were lots of flies like gnats and other small to medium sized flies flying all over. You'd shoe one away and three more would show up. It was so bad we ended up just taking our food to go. There's a great potential for infection here as they land on food, in drinks, carry disease and other contaminants, etc. It was a very very bad experience to have in a place that is generally really a great experience here. But I wanted to report this so that it is known and so that something is done about this asap. There's no way the restaurant doesn't realize it's an issue either. There were more bugs in there than outside. ”

“I'm sure that this is what's made me ill. The first box we received last week, and I had stomach flu symptoms but was not sure why. Ran out of that box, felt better within two days. Got the second box, instantly felt sick again after giving it another try. I've tried the chicken teriyaki, herb crust... ed chicken, and tilapia. Nausea, total loss of appetite and diarrhea. Ick. Steer clear. ”

“The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating an ongoing multistate outbreak of Salmonella Stanley infections likely linked to wood ear mushrooms imported by Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, CA. Wood ear mushrooms are a dried mushroom, also commonly labelled... or referred to as Kikurage, Dried Black Fungus, Dried Fungus, or Mu’er/Mu Er/Mu-Err.
As of September 24, 2020, a total of 41 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Stanley have been reported from 10 states. In interviews, ill people answered questions about the foods they ate and other exposures in the week before they became ill. According to the CDC, of 18 people with information, 16 (89%) reported eating ramen at a restaurant in the week before their illness started. Four illness clusters were identified at restaurants serving ramen in three states. Eight (89%) of the nine ill people linked to restaurant clusters reported eating wood ear mushrooms or ramen containing wood ear mushrooms in the week before their illness started.
Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. acted quickly upon being notified of the positive test result and recalled all wood ear mushrooms within shelf life on September 23, 2020. This product was labeled as Shirakiku brand Black Fungus (Kikurage) with UPC Code 00074410604305, imported from China. Product was distributed in six packs of five-pound bags to restaurants in AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NV, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, and Canada.

“Hello, I ordered Chicken tenders tonight around 8:30 pm and took about 18 minutes to drive home from Santee to Lomita Village. I ate 4 Chicken tenders as soon as I stepped in my home. I noticed the tenders were room temperature....as soon I ate that and an iced coffee that was very thick I felt an e... xtreme nausea which caused me to projectile vomit. I also had a sharp pain in my stomach. I believe the food was contaminated .. My brother had a burger and he ate one tender and tolde something was "off" with the chicken tender; his burger was fine however ”

“Today is 10/03/2020 I ate 5 burgers 20 minutes ago and 6 minutes later i feel weak my stomac started to hurt and Then gas every 5 minutes with a awful smell to it and i feel nauseous and vomit i also ate it yesterday the 10/2/2020 too and the same thing but it was worser i had 5 burgers and bacon l... oaded cheese french fries and a milkshake and gas was was every 3 minutes awful smell and diarrhea and felt weak after too ”

“We ordered at Ordered 17.46 on 15 october 2020. Delivered at 16.13. Son had a litlle at about 6.30. He then finished his just before going to sleep. He said he felt nauseous after eating and tried to sleep. Struggled to sleep. When I saw him in the morning at about 6.30 he did not look good and ha... d a temperature. I had to go to work but told him to let me know if still not well later. He contacted me around 9.30 in tears. 11 years old. Took him to doctor. Vomiting in car. Doc made him have blood tests and urine tests to rule out appendix or kidney issues. Not that. Have medication but still high temp. Puking through the night last night and stomach out of control. Still struggling this morning. Saturday morning. Temp going up. ”

“I bought onions and cooked them on a skillet for dinner 10/15/2020. I woke up in the middle of the night three different times because my stomach was upset. I woke up with diarrhea and nausea. I have vomited twice already and it’s only 7 in the morning, and now I am back on the toilet with what? Dia... rrhea again. I feel weak and nauseous and it’s all awful. My husband and I had the same things for dinner, the only difference was the onion that I ate. ”
